Axle and CV joint repair in Surrey

Axle & CV Joint Repair in Surrey, BC

Clicking when you turn, a clunk into drive, or a vibration under acceleration usually points to something in the driveline. We inspect CV axles, boots, driveshafts, U-joints and related wear, then fix the failed part so power gets to the wheels smoothly and safely.

Know the signs

Driveline noises usually get louder, not better.

A torn boot can turn into a worn CV joint, and a worn joint can become a safety problem. Catching it early often keeps the repair smaller.

Clicking turns

A sharp click or pop while turning, especially from a stop, is the classic outer CV joint warning. It usually gets louder as the joint wears.

Grease on wheel

Black grease flung on the inside of a wheel or tire often means a CV boot has split. Once the grease leaves, dirt and water get in.

Acceleration vibration

A shake or shudder that shows up under throttle can come from a worn inner CV joint, axle shaft or driveline joint. We confirm the source before replacing parts.

Drive clunk

A clunk when shifting into drive or reverse can point to excess play in an axle, U-joint or driveshaft connection. It should be inspected before it worsens.

Torn CV boot

Sometimes the first sign is found during an inspection. If the boot is torn but the joint is still quiet, the repair may be simpler.

Humming growl

A hum or growl that changes with road speed may be a worn wheel bearing, axle or related hub issue. We separate bearing noise from tire and driveline noise.

What the job involves

The parts that carry power to the wheels.

Driveline work is about finding play, torn protection, lost grease and worn joints. We inspect the assembly, then quote the piece that actually failed.

CV axles

Front and rear CV axle assemblies are checked for play, noise, torn boots and shaft damage, then replaced where the joint or shaft has worn out.

CV joints

Outer and inner CV joints are inspected for clicking, binding and vibration. The repair depends on the vehicle design and the condition of the axle.

CV boots

Boots keep grease in and grit out. If a boot is torn, we check whether the joint is still serviceable before recommending the right repair.

Driveshafts

Driveshafts are checked for looseness, vibration, damaged tubes, worn slip joints and balance concerns, especially on trucks and SUVs.

U-joints

Universal joints are inspected for rust dust, stiffness, looseness and clunks. A worn U-joint can create vibration and driveline shock.

Wheel bearings

Bearing and hub noise can mimic axle trouble. We check for growling, play and roughness so the correct driveline or hub part is repaired.

The M.A.P. promise

The worn joint, not the whole driveline.

Axle work is a common place to be sold both axles, a driveshaft or extra hub parts when only one CV joint or boot has failed. We are an authorized Motorist Assurance Program service centre, so the recommendation matches the inspection.

If the other axle, boot or joint still has life left, we will say so and fix only what is worn.

Axle and CV questions, answered

The things Surrey drivers ask us.

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call the shop and ask.

Can I drive with a clicking CV joint?

It may still move the vehicle, but it is not something to ignore. A worn CV joint can get noisy, bind or fail, so have it inspected before it becomes a roadside problem.

Does a torn CV boot mean I need a new axle?

Not always. If the boot was caught early and the joint is still clean and quiet, a boot repair may be possible depending on the vehicle. If the joint is contaminated or worn, axle replacement is usually the better fix.

What causes vibration under acceleration?

Common causes include a worn inner CV joint, damaged axle shaft, U-joint wear or driveshaft issue. We road test and inspect for play so the vibration is traced to the right part.

Are axle and wheel bearing noises the same?

They can sound similar from the driver's seat. A wheel bearing often hums or growls with road speed, while a CV joint often clicks on turns or vibrates under load.

Do you repair driveshafts and U-joints?

Yes. We inspect driveshafts, U-joints and related driveline parts for clunks, vibration, looseness and wear, then explain what needs service.

Do you work on all makes?

Domestic and import, cars, light trucks and SUVs. We are a full-service auto centre in Surrey, not a tire-only shop.
