TPMS Service in Surrey, BC
That tire pressure light is not just a nuisance. TPMS warns you when a tire may be low enough to affect grip, tire wear and fuel economy. We diagnose the sensor, valve, pressure issue or relearn problem and fix the part that failed.

Know the signs
The tire pressure light is there for a reason.
Sometimes the warning is a real low tire. Sometimes it is a sensor or reset issue after service. Either way, guessing is how small tire problems get missed.
Light stays on
A steady TPMS light usually means one tire is low, or the system has found a fault. We check pressures first, then test the sensors.
After tire service
If the light came on after a tire change, rotation or seasonal swap, the system may need a proper relearn or a sensor may not be communicating.
Cold morning flicker
Cold mornings can drop tire pressure enough to trigger the light. We confirm the pressures and make sure it is not masking a sensor issue.
Old sensor battery
Many TPMS sensors last roughly 5 to 7 years before the sealed battery dies. When that happens, the sensor usually needs replacement.
Will not reset
If the light will not clear after setting tire pressures, the vehicle may need a relearn, scan tool reset or sensor diagnosis.
Slow leak flagged
TPMS can catch a slow leak before the tire looks flat. That warning is worth checking before the tire is damaged from driving low.
What the job involves
Find the cause before replacing parts.
TPMS problems are not all the same. We separate a true pressure problem from a dead sensor, bad valve stem, failed seal or relearn issue.
Pressure check
We set all tires to the correct placard pressure and check for obvious leaks before calling it an electronic problem.
Sensor diagnosis
Each sensor is checked for signal, battery status where available, ID and communication with the vehicle.
Sensor replacement
Failed or battery-dead sensors are replaced with the correct type for your vehicle, wheel and TPMS system.
Sensor relearn
After tire service, rotation or sensor replacement, we complete the relearn so the vehicle knows which sensor is at each wheel.
Valve kits
TPMS valve stems, seals, caps, cores and service kits are replaced where needed to prevent leaks at the sensor.
Leak check
If the system flagged a slow leak, we inspect the tire, valve and bead area so the pressure problem is fixed.
The M.A.P. promise
The sensor, not the whole set.
TPMS work is a common place to be sold four sensors when one valve seal leaked or one sensor battery died. We are an authorized Motorist Assurance Program service centre, so the recommendation matches the inspection.
If the other sensors are reading properly and still have life left, we tell you that and replace only what failed.

TPMS questions, answered
The things Surrey drivers ask us.
Straight answers. If yours is not here, call the shop and ask.
What does TPMS mean?
TPMS stands for Tire Pressure Monitoring System. It uses sensors to warn you when tire pressure is low or when the monitoring system has a fault.
Can I ignore the TPMS light?
No. It may be a real low-pressure warning, and driving low can damage a tire, reduce grip and create heat. We check the pressure first, then the system.
Why did the light come on after my tires were changed?
The vehicle may need a relearn after a rotation, seasonal swap or sensor replacement. A sensor may also have been damaged or a valve service kit may be leaking.
Do TPMS sensors have batteries?
Yes. Most sensors have sealed batteries that cannot be replaced separately. Around 5 to 7 years is a common age for batteries to start failing.
Can you reset the TPMS light?
Yes, once the cause is corrected. If tire pressure is right and the light still stays on, we can perform the relearn or diagnose the sensor fault.
Do you work on all makes?
Domestic and import, cars, light trucks and SUVs. Big O Tires Surrey is a full-service auto centre, not a tire-only shop.
